Collateral Damage

Documentary by Mike and Melody

Military deployments, war, traumatic violence have an effect more than just on the survivor. Veterans suffer the most, but so do their families. This look at the family impact of multiple deployments and the changed relationship with their family member highlights the difficulties returning veterans face.

This is a new kind of film for us, but its one that speaks to our belief in the power of relationships. They sustain us, heal us, and destroy us. We are social creatures and the impact of war cannot be confined to the direct participants.

This is not a 60 Minutes style documentary. Mike applies the tools of the narrative film maker to capturing the power and emotion of the moment. Just as in our shorts and features, we want to tell the story. Melody's skill as a therapist and interviewer helps people tell their story.
